Position Description: The Foodborne Illness and Enterics Program Lead/SME position is a career-service position that directs and oversees communicable disease surveillance, case and outbreak investigation, response, and prevention activities, and grant activities related to foodborne and enteric illnesses. Program Lead (SME) staff supervise disease investigators, including Public Health Nurses (PHN) and Disease Research and Intervention Specialists (DRIS) and are responsible for ensuring the timeliness and quality of communicable disease investigation and response activities. This position is also responsible for development of Section investigation and response protocols, internal and external communications, grant oversight and leadership, and administrative duties as assigned. This position works closely with the Section's Analytics and Informatics Team epidemiologists to ensure that epidemiologic data is collected, managed, analyzed, and reported to support the CD-Imms Section's mission. This position reports to the Section's Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS) and works collaboratively with the other CD- Imms Program Leads, Immunization Team, Administration Team (Lead) and Analytics and Informatics Team staff. This position provides back-up coverage to other Program Lead SME staff as needed. This position participates in Section's response during outbreaks and emergencies as approved by supervisor and participates in after-hours and weekend call coverage for communicable disease reports from healthcare providers approximately 6-8 weeks a year.

Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Subject-matter expertise in food borne and enteric disease epidemiology, clinical characteristics, transmission, control measures, and prevention recommendations. •Strong supervisory and leadership skills and experience including development, implementation, and oversight of assignments with multiple dimensions. •Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, including working as a part of a multidisciplinary team. •Skill in working with the public and persons of different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. •Excellent communications skills (oral and written). •Skill in developing and giving presentations. •Skill in translating medical information in a clear and concise manner for non-technical audiences. •General knowledge of communicable disease epidemiology, prevention and control measures. •Strong skills in investigations (case and outbreak) and interviewing skills. •Knowledge and experience working with spreadsheets and electronic databases, and familiarity with statistical analysis software. •Knowledge and experience working with survey instruments. •Basic knowledge of human resources management techniques and principles.
