Position Description: Responsibilities The Health Program Coordinator I will be responsible for serving as liaison with county health officials to identify law enforcement, emergency department providers, treatment providers, drug task force members, community members and other key stakeholders who will play an integral role in expanding buprenorphine and naloxone access in various settings including emergency departments and county jails. Working closely with the Opioid Program Coordinators, the incumbent will be responsible for working with local health departments (LHDs) to improve the quality of syndromic surveillance data, assist in the development of activities to improve data quality, increase access to buprenorphine and naloxone through academic detailing and prescriber education, help to coordinate buprenorphine waiver trainings and work force development, Health Hubs development, and assisting in measuring and evaluating the impact of activities conducted by funded LHDs. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing and monitoring contracts established with 24 LHDs across New York State to address the opioid epidemic through various strategies. Other responsibilities include: coordinating ongoing provider and LHD technical assistance, monitoring LHD work plan performance, coordinating regional meetings and calls, and development of resources and educational materials. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of experience in the conduct or administration of a public health, health regulatory or human service related program; OR an Associate's degree and five years such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of general experience. Preferred Qualifications At least three years of experience in one or more of the following: drug user health, opioid use disorders, harm reduction, medically assisted treatment, public health program management, evaluation of policies and interventions relating to drug user health. At least one year of experience in public health program management; at least one year of experience working with health care providers, government agencies, community groups and other organizations as necessary. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities; exhibit independent judgment in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies.
