Position Description: Job Summary: This is a contract position within the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG), National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. The Scientific Program Analyst is responsible for researching, compiling, and analyzing data for epidemiological studies. Duties include data management and analysis and project coordination activities for epidemiological studies.

Specific Responsibilities: The Scientific Program Analyst will report directly to the DCEG Deputy Director and be responsible for the management of large epidemiological databases, including acquiring data, cleaning, aggregating and importing data from a variety of sources, merging, quality control, derivation of analytical variables, and data analyses. This will also involve communicating with multiple studies providing data and coordinating project activities.

Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have a Master’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, applied math, computer science, or a related quantitative field; or a bachelor's degree with a concentration in these areas and the equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience. At least one year of professional experience is desired. The successful candidate must possess excellent statistical, programming and data management skills, have a scientific background, be well organized, have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and organizations, exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and multi- tasking ability, be team-oriented, and have experience with producing deliverables under tight deadlines. Proficiency in preparing figures, charts, data presentations, and working knowledge of bioinformatics is highly desirable.

Organization Description: The Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) is an intramural research program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH) that conducts population and multidisciplinary research to discover the genetic and environmental determinants of cancer and new approaches to cancer prevention.
