Position Description: A primary aim of the Quest initiative is to elevate the scholarly reputation of Georgia State by establishing a compelling quantitative methods infrastructure, a coherent research portfolio, and a comprehensive graduate student and junior faculty training activity in quantitative methods. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for coordinating and providing management of a core research facility designed to provide methodological support for an interdisciplinary academic research environment. Activities will include: 1) Consulting with principal investigators in the planning of studies, analysis of data, and interpretation of findings; 2) supervising a skilled graduate student staff assigned to Quest to provide essential consulting services across a wide range of statistical and data management techniques; 3) supporting the methodological aspects of grant and contract proposals; and 4) coordinating with data and analysis support services already in operation at Georgia State. There is an expectation that the majority of the salary for this position will be covered by externally-funded projects within the first three years. The successful candidate will also have some opportunity to support and pursue their own independent methods research to improve and enhance current analytic techniques.

Qualifications: Candidates are expected to have demonstrated excellence in statistical consulting and exhibit strong potential for initiating and maintaining successful research collaborations with extramural funding support. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidates should be able to work both independently and in team settings. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate at the time of hire in Statistics, Biostatistics, or one of a variety of disciplines, including (but not limited to) Public Health, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Criminology, or Public Policy, with specific concentration or clear emphasis in a quantitative domain such as biostatistics, applied statistics, econometrics, quantitative psychology, quantitative criminology, educational or social research methodology, etc. The particular area of quantitative/statistical expertise for this position is completely open. The School of Public Health is the administrative home for Quest, but because quantitative methodology is intrinsically interdisciplinary, the hire will be appointed into the academic unit that best fits their expertise and interests. Rank at time of hire will be determined based on candidate experience, accomplishments, and years in service. The salary for this position is intended to be highly competitive.
