Position Description: A primary aim of the Quest initiative is to elevate the scholarly reputation of Georgia State by establishing a compelling quantitative methods infrastructure, a coherent research portfolio, and a comprehensive graduate student and junior faculty training activity in quantitative methods. The successful candidate will be expected to actively advance the goals of Quest by maintaining their own research program, conducting collaborative work with other methodologists as well as applied researchers, and contributing to graduate teaching and mentoring. Teaching assignments will depend on the expertise and interests of the candidate as well as departmental priorities.

Qualifications: Candidates should hold the tenured or tenure-track rank of Associate or Full Professor at their current institutions at the time of application submission. Candidates are expected to have an outstanding record of research achievement in the quantitative sciences, including a strong record of collaborative research with extramural funding support. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate in one of a variety of disciplines, including (but not limited to) Public Health, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Criminology, or Public Policy, with specific concentration or clear emphasis in a quantitative domain such as biostatistics, applied statistics, econometrics, quantitative psychology, quantitative criminology, educational or social research methodology, etc. The particular area of quantitative/statistical expertise for this position is completely open. The School of Public Health is the administrative home for Quest, but because quantitative methodology is intrinsically interdisciplinary, the hire will be appointed into the academic unit that best fits their expertise and interests. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Rank and tenure status at time of hire will be determined based on candidate experience, accomplishments, and years in service. The salary for this position is intended to be highly competitive.

Organization Description: Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA, is seeking a tenure-track faculty member to participate in a new interdisciplinary initiative focused on the development and advancement of the quantitative and statistical sciences applied in social, behavioral, educational, policy, health, biomedical, and communications research. The university-wide initiative in the quantitative and statistical sciences (Quest) is part of Georgia State’s Next Generation Faculty Program. This program provides new opportunities for collaboration and innovation both inside and outside of Georgia State by continuing to strengthen and distinguish Georgia State’s faculty research and scholarship in strategic areas.
