Position Description: Main Tasks and Duties:

Assist in the writing and application for research grants

Support the PI and co-investigators in the daily functioning of international research projects.

Coordinate daily activities (data collection and follow-up).

Facilitate communication and coordination among investigators in different parts of the world including the study group(s).

Manage data and conduct statistical (or qualitative) analyses.

Prepare research manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and related tasks.

Manage agenda and scheduling of meetings and submission deadlines.

Assist in other activities related to the research activities of the group such as delivering presentations, occasional lecturing and travel to present at conferences.

Prospective candidates with their own research interests and proposals ideas in an area relevant to injury epidemiology are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: A doctorate degree in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology or related fields (including engineering or social sciences).

Training in quantitative or qualitative research methods.

Ability to effectively work both as a team member and independently across time zones.

Excellent ICT skills: MS Office / LibreOffice / GDocs or equivalent plus relevant statistical packages (knowledge of R strongly preferred).

Excellent English proficiency is required as well as strong writing skills in English. Other languages are highly desirable.

A publishing track record is highly desirable.

Organization Description: Organization Description: A newly created research group in injury epidemiology within the Turku Brain Injury Center at the University of Turku in Finland, seeks an enthusiastic and organized post-doc who is interested developing one of several projects within the field of injury and violence prevention. The Injury Epidemiology and Prevention (IEP) Research Group is an international multi-disciplinary research team within the Turku Brain Injury Center committed to understanding the intersection between injury, mental health and violence. Particular emphasis is placed on research which informs population-based interventions, the use of technological innovations for injury control and advocacy. Sub-fields of interest include: traumatic brain injury (esp. pediatric TBI), falls, burns, poisoning, suicide, gender-based violence, traffic injury, workplace injuries, maxillofacial trauma, drowning, bullying, elder abuse and self-harm. *This position is contingent upon the award of a grant*. Prospective post-doctoral applicants having secured their own funding support are also welcome to apply.
