Position Description: MCD Public Health, a division of Medical Care Development (MCD), Inc., is seeking a talented professional to serve as a Project Coordinator to provide staff support for the Maine CDC, Maine Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Program. Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) / Antibiotic Resistance (AR) Program. The position will be housed at the Key Bank Building in Augusta. The position requires a person with both a keen attention to detail and follow through to meet deadlines. The Project Coordinator position is a full-time, 40 hour per week position that is eligible for MCD’s benefit package. This position is funde funded through June 30, 2019 with antic anticipated continued funding.

The Project Coordinator will help support and and build the capacity for the Maine CDC to res respond to potential HAI/AR outbreaks, ana analyze data to drive improvement, and work wit with healthcare facilities to prevent the tra transmission of emerging pathogens, hea healthcare associated infections and ant antibiotic resistance in Maine. The Project Coordinator will have primary re responsibility for the following tasks:

• Conduct case investigations for State notifiable conditions, such as multi-drug resistant organisms, and unusual pathogens.

drug resistant organisms, and unusual p pathogens. • Enter data and run reports in State a and Federal databases. • Work with local stakeholders to a acquire access to additional data sources. • Work with Information Technology ( (IT) staff to customize State databases as n needed. • Identify data quality issues and work with co-workers and healthcare facility Infection Preventionists to resolve issues. • Utilize statistical data analysis s software (e.g. SAS, GIS) to analyze HAI and A AR data for local and regional patterns and t trends. • Compile annual healthcare facility r reports. • Participate in state HAI/AR outbreak i investigations. • Maintain and enhance inventory of a all healthcare settings (acute care, e extended care, ambulatory care) in Maine. • Respond to questions by healthcare f facilities. • Provide education and outreach to h healthcare facilities. • Assist HAI Coordinator and AR Coo Coordinator on various projects.

The individual in this position will i interact with key internal and external s stakeholders and therefore must possess e excellent interpersonal skills, ability to c communicate effectively both orally and in w writing, and be able to establish and m maintain effective working relationships.

Qualifications: Applicants must be a citizen of the United States of America in order to obtain a federal-level security clearance. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Applicants should have a combination of six (6) years of education, training, and/or experience in health, public health or related fields. Applicants with a master’s d degree in public health or a healthcare f field and experience with project m management, infection control a assessment/survey, outbreak investigations a and NHSN & NEDSS databases is a plus. C Competencies among successful candidates are e expected to be consistent with those i identified by the Public Health Foundation C Council on Linkages as Level II.
