Position Description: NNPHI is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Program Manager for several public health communities of practice aimed at building capacity of the public health workforce. The Manager will oversee agenda development, in-person convening/training, and online activities for several communities of practice and professional networks that address varied public health topics. These currently include STD evaluation and quality improvement (QI), accreditation readiness and QI, tribal public health capacity building, and public health block grant implementation. Other topics may be addressed over time. This position will be based in NNPHI’s Washington, DC office and requires travel of approximately 15%.

Primary Job Responsibilities: • Contribute to the development of a framework and agendas for NNPHI’s Communities of Practice/Professional Networks (e.g., Includes defining and implementing best practices for learning communities/networks.

• In collaboration with the Convening Team at NNPHI, lead the design and implementation of national meetings/trainings and online learning events that reach a wide- range of public health practitioners.

• Actively facilitate and manage online communities of practice/networks using platforms such as Higher Logic ( Includes initiating conversations among members, monitoring participation, ensuring file sharing is optimized.

• Support outreach and marketing efforts to engage public health practitioners in NNPHI’s communities of practice/networks. Includes conference presentations, newsletter development, email communications, and social media.

• Support development of grant proposals and reports to funders. • Develop and manage associated project budgets.

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to document and share lessons learned both internally and externally.

Qualifications: Requirements: • Master’s degree in related field and at least three years of related experience required. • Working knowledge of quality improvement methods preferred. • Previous experience designing and managing communities of practice/networksties preferred. • Comfort and experience with online platforms preferred. • Creativity in designing communications/marketing products (newsletters, social media posts, etc) preferred. • Comfort engaging with and facilitating group processes, including collaborative decision making preferred.

Public health institutes are nonprofit organizations that improve the public's health by fostering innovation, leveraging resources, and building partnerships across sectors, including government agencies, communities, the health care delivery system, media, and academia. NNPHI and its member institutes work together to implement public health policy and program initiatives throughout all 50 states. NNPHI offices are located in New Orleans and Washington, DC. Additional staff, consultants, members, and partners support NNPHI’s mission from several locations throughout the United States.

The National Center for Public Health Training at NNPHI collaborates with public health training centers, member public health institutes, and a wide range of national, state, tribal and local partners to build the capacity of the public health workforce.
