Position Description: The College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for a new Assistant/Associate Professor in Health Management & Policy. This position is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-mo. tenure-track appointment in the School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences. Responsibilities include establishing an independent research program through external funding, advancing the University’s research agenda in the area of Health Management and Policy (HMP); teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the HMP program; advising MPH and PhD students; providing service to the University, profession, and the practice community in the field of public health; and working collaboratively with faculty in HMP and in other disciplines, particularly within the College.

Qualifications: Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in Health Policy, Health Economics, Health Services Research, Public Health, or a closely related field by the employment start date. Public health experience as evidenced by a graduate degree, research, teaching, service and/or employment in a public health discipline is required. Consideration at the Assistant Professor rank requires a demonstrated potential for a strong research program and securing external funds. Consideration at the Associate Professor rank requires a record of success in scholarship, extramural funding, peer-reviewed publications, and a clearly defined research agenda. Candidates must demonstrate potential for effective teaching. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong command of health econometrics or health services research methods and prefer candidates with interests and experience in areas that align with HMP priorities: mental and behavioral health policy, payment and delivery system reform, economic analysis, public health policy, health and healthcare disparities, or long-term care financing and delivery. Relevant post-doctoral experience, or extensive pre-doctoral research or policy experience; demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary research and/or cooperative extension collaborations; evidence of effective communication skills; evidence of potential for effective service to the university and profession; and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity are also preferred.

Organization Description: OSU’s Health Management and Policy (HMP) faculty conduct cutting-edge research that informs public health policy and health system transformation. Their research expertise includes innovative health care delivery and financing approaches; accountable care models, health economics; applied health econometrics; cost-effectiveness analysis; mental health and behavioral health policy; health care access and quality measurement; health and healthcare disparities; and long-term care. In June 2014, our College became the first accredited College of Public Health and Human Sciences (CPHHS) in the state of Oregon.
