Position Description: The Georgia Department of Public Health is th the lead agency entrusted by the people of th the state of Georgia with the ultimate re responsibility for the health of communities an and the entire population. The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of GIS Specialist 3/Data Analyst within the Division of Health Protection/EPI Section/OHIP.

Job Responsibilities: Under broad supervision, collects and interp interprets geographic information provided by geo by geodetic surveys, aerial photos and satell satellite data. Analyzes, evaluates, measur measures and records geospatial data using geogra geographic information systems software and relate related hardware and software specific to the ar the area of assignment. Creates or maintains GIS da GIS databases and cartographic products.

Responsibilities: Designs and develops digital maps of geo geospatial data using ArcGIS Desktop for the pur purpose of supporting department's business ope operations, programs and strategic planning. Develop and maintain spatial databases in including File Geodatabases (GDB), and SQL Se Server Geodatabases. Designs digital maps to be served through t the OASIS/Mapping Tool. ( (https://oasis.state.ga.us) Performs data analysis and interpretation using other non-GIS tools such as SPSS. Handles mapping/data requests for the D Department of Public Health. Installs and updates GIS related hardware and software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Pro) for the department as required.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geography, cartography, geology, fore geology, forestry or a closely related field from an accre from an accredited college or university AND One year of e One year of experience in the area of assignment

One year of experience required at the lower level GIS level GIS Spec 2 (LSP061) or position equivalen equivalent.

Preferred Qualification: Master's degree from an accredited college or uni or university in Geography, Geosciences, Enviro Environmental Science, Public Health or releva relevant field. 4+ year experience with ArcGIS Desktop and/o and/or ArcGIS Pro. Proficiency with other ESRI products such as ArcG ArcGIS Online. Knowledge of demographics, statistics and spa spatial analysis and statistical programs suc such as SPSS. Basic knowledge of SQL Server. Strong technical communication skills. Proactively demonstrate new ideas and innovation.
