Position Description: JOB DESCRIPTION The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for a full time Clinical Consultant to support the CDC. This Position will work with NC DPH IVPB team and Chronic Disease and Injury section to identify, plan, and implement initiatives to improve health systems response to the opioid epidemic in the state of North Carolina. Positions will work with internal and external partners to implement these initiatives. The Clinical Consultant will also work with the informatics team on projects related to provider tools such as North Carolina’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). This is an outstanding opportunity to work with the nation’s lead agency charged with protecting the public's health. The CDC Foundation offers a competitive salary and attractive benefits package. RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist with strategic planning, program implementation, and supervision of NC Department of Health and Human Services opioid response initiatives. • Develop and implement healthy system policy and program initiatives in collaboration with health systems, physician organizations, treatment providers, and other stakeholders, including initiatives that promote judicious prescribing of opioids, increased access to naloxone, and increased access to medication-assisted treatment. • Work collaboratively with other Department of Health and Human Services divisions to provide input on service delivery models for individuals with opioid use disorder. • Create talking points, power points, scientific manuscripts, and guidance documents to support policy and program goals • Review and stay current on new and emerging scientific evidence in order to provide input on strategic directions and future programming • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS • Physician’s Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Registered Nurse (RN), or Medical Doctor (MD) • Experience with provider systems, including electronic health records, and prescription drug monitoring programs is ideal. • Preference will be given to those that have clinical experience working with individuals with opioid use disorder or in other clinical settings. • Highly detail oriented, works well within a diverse team, demonstrates a high degree of initiative and flexibility, is able to communicate effectively in a positive and professional manner, is able to prioritize activities when under tight deadlines, and possesses analytical skills. • Strong technical writing skills with experience drafting scientific and clinical material and interpreting data.
