Position Description: Purpose: Coordinate, monitor and provide technical assistance to the projects associated with the State Targeted Response (STR) to the Opioid Crisis Grant.

Duties and Responsibilities: • Manage and monitor and provide technical assistance to STR Grant Projects at the State and Community levels. • Provide training and technical resources for STR staff and Grantees. • Manage and monitor the budgetary documentations associated with coordination of the grant. • Convene and coordinate advisory groups, workgroups and sub-committees assigned to the STR Grant Project. • Participate in State Epidemiological Outcome Workgroup Meetings. • Participate in or provide information for Opioid Commission Meetings upon request. • Participate in CDC Opioid Grant Projects implemented by MDHHS Population Health Administration. • Prepare all reports and deliverables required by the Notice of Grant Award for the STR Grant. • Provide monitoring and oversight of STR Grant Evaluator activity. • Attend STR Grantee Meetings as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major. Master’s Degree in Public Health preferred.

Experience: At least one year of experience in: assisting in the planning and administration of federal SUD grant programs and contracts; successful preparation of federal grant applications and the preparation of related financial and programmatic reports; preparation and presenting of reports to administration and/or federal grant sources; planning, coordinating programs and administrative activities of a complex, interrelated and interdependent nature; interpreting complex rules and regulations; and communicating with others verbally and in writing. Important Skills and Characteristics: Knowledge of the field of SUD prevention and/or treatment; Excellent verbal and writing skills; Knowledge of the preparation of federal grant applications; Knowledge of process and outcome evaluation; Ability to plan, direct and coordinate grant activities of a complex, interrelated and interdependent nature; Ability to coordinate and expedite work projects; Ability to coordinate and convene advisory group meetings and related workgroup. Ability to present to advisory groups, partners and stakeholders.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% o f the time. Standard office environment. May require valid vehicle operator’s license where needed to perform duties of the position. Moderate travel required within the state including occasional overnights and out of state travel to national meetings as required by the grant.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: Lead workers act as project leaders predominantly and/or coordinate the work activities of others.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: Provides a valuable member to the team who will bring knowledge of Opioid Use Disorder, appropriate interventions and evidence based practices, and improve return on investment in terms of targeted treatment services for the identified population. The position will further strengthen the relationship between MPHI and MDHHS, and support projects designed to benefit the citizens of Michigan.
