Position Description: The College of Public Health has established the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs administrative position to provide expertise to further the goals of the college through developing and guiding academic programs. The Associate Dean will be a key member of the Dean’s senior administrative team who will have oversight for academic-related activities and will work with management and staff to provide services to students, faculty, and program directors. The Associate Dean will guide curriculum development and management, educational quality assessment and improvement, academic support for the faculty, and facilitates a humanistic and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.

The Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs will function in the College of Public Health as a full-time faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with tenure. Teaching, research, and service activities will be negotiated with the appropriate department chair in consultation with the dean in balance with the duties required for the administrative role.

The Associate Dean will be expected to: • Promote a culture of educational excellence through providing oversight to the undergraduate and graduate degree programs and certificates. • Lead the administrative and professional staff within the Office of Student and Academic Life to provide the following student services including, but not limited to: admissions, student affairs, financial aid and scholarships, academic progress and support, course and curriculum administration, recruiting and retention, and job placement assistance. • Align the educational programs with the college’s strategic plan. • Ensure compliance with UK policies and procedures, requirements of CPH accrediting bodies (CEPH, CAHME) and federal, state and local regulations. • Serve as a representative of CPH in university-wide capacities, such as provost’s meetings and leadership programs, and advocate for public relations coverage of the college’s programs and achievements. • Create and sustain collaborative relationships with other university faculty and external agencies supporting educational programs in public health. • Assist in national promotion and recognition of CPH’s expertise via representation at meetings of the American Public Health Association (APHA), Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health (ASPPH), and others as appropriate. • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Strategic Planning to gather and analyze data for annual reporting needs, special data requests, and accreditation reporting.

Qualifications: PhD, DrPH, EdD, or equivalent in an area related to public health
