Compensation: up to $20 per hour
Position Description: The Chesterfield Health District is looking for a Communicable Disease Investigator to assist the District Epidemiologist. This is a 20-25 hour per week contract position, expected to last 6 months with the potential for extension of both duration and hours per week.

-Conducts investigations of communicable disease reports and makes disease control recommendations to external partners under the supervision of the District Epidemiologist
-Collects relevant disease history and laboratory findings from medical providers
-Interprets laboratory reports
-Interviews cases regarding symptoms, exposure history, occupational history, travel history, etc.
-Educates cases on communicable disease transmission and prevention
-Determines risk for further spread of disease and implements appropriate disease control measures, such as exclusion from work or school, and contact tracing
-Completes accurate case documentation, classification, and enters data into a state- wide data system per agency guidelines and protocol
-Assists District Epidemiologist with the investigation of disease clusters and outbreaks as needed

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in public health, epidemiology or other related field. Current MPH students encouraged to apply. Knowledge of the principles of epidemiology; public health surveillance methods; laws, regulations, and policies on disease reporting and control. Strong interpersonal, interviewing, data entry, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize work tasks efficiently and work independently.
