Position Description: Communications and Marketing Internship

Are you a graduate student or recent graduate looking to build skills and experience in nonprofit communications and marketing through a PAID internship?

The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) in Washington, D.C., is looking for a communications and marketing intern who can help the organization’s small but high- performing team communicate needed information to its membership regarding the organization’s mission and need to know information. The internship lasts from January to May 2019, with the opportunity for extension.

As a member of a small team, your role will be highly valued with expertise welcomed. Responsibilities will focus on building and implementing communication and marketing strategies centered around membership, events, conference, and educational materials, while working to grow the organization’s reach.

Interns are an integral part of our team, and they work on a variety of tasks that are critical to our marketing and communications strategies, including:

• Write, proofread, and edit newsletter articles. • Assist with content updates and announcements for NONPF’s website. • Draft social media posts for Twitter and develop LinkedIn. • Manage and correspond with members and social media followers. • Participate in communications strategy and program planning meetings. • Conduct research to identify sponsorship opportunities and assist with outreach. • Assist NONPF staff with event planning for Fall and Annual Conferences as needed.

Qualifications: Desired Skills:

• Microsoft Office proficient, especially Word and Excel. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to quickly research and synthesize findings clearly and concisely. • Detail-oriented, personable and possess excellent follow-up skills. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Working knowledge of Hootsuite, webinar platforms, graphic design programs, and CRM databases. • Experience with social media campaigns, online advertising, and graphic design a plus. • Event planning experience a plus.

Starting in 1974 as a small group of educators meeting to develop the first NP curriculum guidelines, NONPF has evolved as the leading organization for NP faculty sharing the commitment of excellence in NP education. Today, the organization represents a global network of NP educators.
