Position Description: Job Summary/Background:

Oxford Epi seeks a senior statistician/data analyst to provide analytic leadership in an upcoming multi- country research study funded by USAID. The senior statistician/data analyst will provide technical and thought leadership in the design and analysis of the development and implementation of the analytic components of the research and support capacity building efforts of in-country research teams. The primary areas of responsibility will include not only performing statistical related analyses for the research project but also teaching these concepts and mentoring others within the countries where the work is to be done. Specific duties will span the continuum of research, including assisting in study design, survey tool reliability, sampling plans, univariate and multivariate analytic techniques and analysis of variance.

Job Responsibilities: • Support the design of research and analytic strategies to fulfill the needs of each country involved into the projects taking into account the research objectives, activities, timelines, resources, risks, metrics, communications, dependencies, and contingencies. • Provide analytical direction based on the agreed upon study design and data collection plans. • Integrate professional and research capacity development of the participating countries research team members in all work. • Supports the collection, verification, harmonization, normalization and other processing of data, interpretation, analysis of the research data. • Support processes related to collecting, verifying, redacting, normalizing, and otherwise processing data • Applies quantitative methods to capture and document new insights from the data, and facilitate clear, shared understanding among all team members of the meaning of the evidence uncovered in the analysis. • Present results in visually intuitive formats • Develop analytical reports tailored to USAID needs. • Present results in user-friendly, digestible format • Lead the development of evidence-based, actionable recommendations from the findings • Assist USAID in the production of policy papers, briefs, summaries and reports for distribution, including writing and editing, scientific presentations and publications.

Qualifications: Qualifications:

• An advanced University degree (Master’s degree or PhD preferred) in health economics, public health, economics, business, international / public affairs, or any quantitative discipline; • At least 3 to 5 years’ Experience using data to support research efforts, strong levels of data literacy, and solid grounding in the principles of data validity and integrity. • Conversant in using statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, R, and related programs; • Knowledge in the M/XDR-TB case management in Africa and Asia preferred • Excellent, proven skills in developing analytical, technical and informative materials, and multiple examples of technical and/or academic publications (in TB) highly desirable. • Experience working with local consultants in conducting research and analysis • Experience with program evaluation, specifically with developing data collection tools and methodologies, quantitative data analysis, and data presentation. • Excellent writing skills • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Initiative and resourcefulness • Excellent, proven skills in developing analytical, technical and informative materials • Ability to work in a team • Fluency in English and at least one other UN Language

Personal/Professional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Deep understanding of technical principles, theories, and challenges of MDR TB in Africa and Asia. • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills. • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary/multicultural team. • Ability to assess complex programs and situations rapidly and form accurate opinions. • Excellent organizational and planning skills; self- motivated and able to work under pressure.

Physical Requirements/Environment: The position requires travel (approximately 15-30%) for research sites initiation process and monitoring visits.
