Position Description: This position will be responsible for overall coordination and management of the New Mexico Respiratory Disease Surveillance Program. The position will supervise staff performing surveillance and epidemiologic analyses on respiratory pathogens, including influenza, pertussis, respiratory syncytial virus and Legionella. This position also will participate in the New Mexico Emerging Infections Program by conducting surveillance for hospitalized influenza and special projects/studies with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) national FluSurv-NET network. FluSurv-NET activities include following CDC active population-based surveillance protocols, analyzing and disseminating surveillance data and providing leadership for the New Mexico Emerging Infections Program both at the state and national levels. Finally, this position will assure surveillance and for pneumonia and influenza (P & I) deaths and coordinate the efforts to impact the health status of New Mexicans concerning P & I deaths in the state.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Public Health, Epidem Epidemiology, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Statis Statistics and two (2) years in Public Health Health to include data analysis and linking method methodology.
