Position Description: What you will do:

Perform direct management and coordination of the investigation and reporting of communicable disease incidents. Supervise the team of Communicable Disease Epidemiologists who conduct daily case investigations of reportable diseases and outbreak investigations, including surveillance of foodborne, waterborne, zoonotic, vaccine preventable and respiratory communicable diseases. Coordinate outbreak investigations, oversees and performs epidemiologic analyses and other special studies or analytic projects and coordinates communicable disease program and data collection activities. Maintain direct supervisory responsibility in coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work and evaluating staff performance. Provide technical support and expertise to the program staff, agency staff, local health care providers, community partners and the public regarding appropriate investigation and control methods for communicable diseases. Conduct presentations on TCHD’s current disease intervention activities and outbreak investigations and is responsible to respond, as required, to support public health emergencies, incidents and events. Works closely with the Emergency Preparedness and Response and Syndromic Surveillance Programs within the same Division.

Qualifications: Requirements you will need:

•Previous supervisory experience required

•A minimum three years’ experience in investigation, reporting and surveillance of communicable diseases

•Expertise in the principles of communicable disease epidemiology, investigative techniques, and epidemiologic methods and statistical analyses

•Ability to train professional and support staff in a positive and productive manner

•Ability to direct investigations and effectively analyze and interpret surveillance, epidemiologic studies and outbreak data using statistical software

•The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with the public and medical providers under stressful circumstances

•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Tri-County Health Department employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community

•Master’s Degree in Public Health or a Master’s of Science Degree with a focus on epidemiology or analysis and assessment

•Possession of a Valid Driver’s License
