Assistant Professor

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the Hudson College of Public Health, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), is recruiting for a tenure-track faculty position in infectious disease epidemiology at the rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include maintaining an active research program, teaching graduate-level courses in epidemiology, mentoring masters and doctoral students in epidemiology and participating in professional service. Salary will be based on experience and credentials. All OUHSC faculty also participate in an incentive pay program that is based on research productivity. New faculty will also have the opportunity to assist in designing and establishing interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives with various departments and centers across the campus, including the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center, the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, the Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources, and with other health institutions in the region.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree in epidemiology, 12 months experience conducting epidemiologic research during pre- or post-doctoral training or previous employment, and potential to obtain external research funding as demonstrated by a well- developed plan for independent research or prior history of successful external research funding commensurate with rank.

Organization Description: The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology is one of four departments in the CEPH-accredited Hudson College of Public Health. The department currently mentors approximately 60 students in MPH, MS, and PhD programs and performs active research in communicable diseases, cardiovascular disease and diabetes, hematology, health disparities, environmental exposures and reproductive outcomes, tobacco control, trauma-related health outcomes, and cancer prevention. In May 2018, College Magazine ranked the OUHSC Hudson College of Public Health among the top 10 Colleges of Public Health in the nation ( for-public-health/).

The OUHSC campus is located near the vibrant and growing downtown area of Oklahoma City known for its cultural and sports attractions and for its low cost of living. The OUHSC is the hub of the Oklahoma Health Center, which includes 25 public and private health institutions. It is one of only a few academic medical centers in the nation with seven schools of health in contiguous space (Public Health, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health, and Graduate College). The Oklahoma State Department of Health is also located on the campus.
