Position Description: This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC), Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) in Philadelphia, PA. The position involves performing professional level scientific work in the conduct of a funded research protocol. The Health Science specialist will design coordinate and execute research study protocols to test new hypotheses. Additionally, he/she will conduct data collection and establish and maintain scientific collaborations with other research, clinical and support organizations.

Major Duties Include: 1. Design and Execution of Research Study Protocols 2. Data Collection: Initiates and performs experimental data collection through scientific methodologies specified in the study protocols. 3. Scientific Collaboration: Establishes and maintains scientific collaborations with other clinical and support organizations at the host and collaborations institutions. Maintains archives of all completed studies and associated documentation, raw data, regulatory compliance documents, analyses, and reports.

Qualifications: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences. 1-2 years work experience that includes working on health services or behavioral intervention research projects is preferred. Knowledge of data analysis software is preferred (e.g. NVIVO, Atlas, SPSS or SAS). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
