Position Description: The Pennsylvania Department of Public Health, Bureau Bureau of Epidemiology, Division of Infectious Diseas Disease Epidemiology is seeking a Public Health Physic Physician to lead and coordinate infectious diseas disease case/outbreak identification and invest investigation at the statewide and district levels levels; develop and implement disease interv intervention, prevention and control strategies; and re and recommend communicable disease policy.

Through supervision of Epidemiology Research Asso Associates from district offices, direct the inve investigation of infectious disease outbreaks to iden identify etiological agents, sources, modes of tran transmission and appropriate methods for disease prev prevention and control. Supervise and provide reco recommendations and training to Epidemiology Rese Research Associates regarding quality of case case/outbreak investigations.

Provide epidemiological expertise and co consultation to a statewide public health network of of Department programs, state/municipal em employees, state health centers and co county/municipal health departments using pu published national standards of excellence and pr practice. Also provide consultation to re representatives of federal agencies, the medical co community, the public, private facilities, and ot others.

Collaborate in the maintenance of statewide system of infectious disease surveillance and reporting under Chapter 27 of the Communicable Disease Regulations. Assist in the implementation of Pennsylvania Disease Reporting Act by ensuring prompt reporting of reportable diseases. Provide after hours, on-call, and emergency consultative services on rotation. Be available 24/7 to respond to public health emergencies.

Qualifications: Graduation with a degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathy from a medical school approved or recognized by the Pennsylvania Medical Licensing Board or the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Licensing Board and compl Board and completion of an approved U.S. residency train residency training program; and two (2) years of professional me professional medical experience, including one (1) year in a p (1) year in a public health setting.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a license to pr license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvan of Pennsylvania issued by the State Medicine Board or Oste Board or Osteopathic Medicine Board; or eligibility f eligibility for such licensure. Candidates must obtain the re obtain the required license prior to beginning employment.

1.Communicate complex technical information on infectiou infectious disease cases/outbreaks, intervention, preventio prevention and control measures to a variety of audiences audiences.

2.Proficiency in SAS or R data analysis and reporti reporting application.

3.Working knowledge of infectious disease epide epidemiology principles and methods.

4.Knowledge of systems used to collect data in hea healthcare or community settings.

5.Familiarity with clinical diagnostic options a and clinical decision making.
