Position Description: Responsible for the overall management of the Environmental Health Services section, including program planning, directing, managing and organizing. Plans, tracks, oversees and is accountable for the Environmental Health Services section budget. Leads and provides direction in grant application and administration for multiple program grants. This position provides direct supervision of Environmental Health Services staff members. Supervision includes scheduling, assigning duties, mentoring and developing staff and evaluating performance. It also includes review and revision of applicable municipal codes and enforcement specifically of Anchorage Municipal Codes chapters 15 and 16. This position works closely with the public, governmental and private sector agencies in addressing public environmental health needs and providing technical support. This is a multi-faceted job with d demands for the incumbents time coming from m multiple directions, requiring a balancing o of priorities. Perform other related duties a as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemistry, Biology or a related discipline, and four ( and four (4) years of experience in environmen environmental science, epidemiology, investigat investigation of food borne illness, public health san health sanitation inspections or a related field of w field of which one (1) year is as an Environmen Environmental Sanitarian III level with the Municipali Municipality of Anchorage, or the equivalent elsewhere. elsewhere. OR High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and ei eight (8) years of experience in en environmental science, epidemiology, in investigation of food borne illness, public he health sanitation inspections or a related fi field of which one (1) year is as an En Environmental Sanitarian III with the Mu Municipality of Anchorage, or the equivalent el elsewhere. All applicants must possess and/or obtain: •Valid State of Alaska Driver's L License with satisfactory driving record at t time of hire. •Municipality of Anchorage Certification as a a Designated Peace Officer within six (6) m months of hire. •Certified Pool/spa Operator Certification o or Aquatic Facility Operator Certification w within six (6) months of hire. •Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food S Safety Inspection Officer Certification w within six (6) months of hire. •State of Alaska Certification as a Pe Pesticide Applicator within six (6) months of of hire.
