Purpose: This position will serve as the Intake Coordinator in Detroit for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Healthy Homes Section. This position shall evaluate, process and present for approval, client applications and documentation for the Lead Safe Home Program (LSHP). This position shall ensure that applications are evaluated per pre-set eligibility criteria and processed in a thorough and timely manner, and additional tasks related to the Lead Safe Home Program are complete appropriately and following all federal, state and local regulations and policies related to lead-based paint. This position will report and w work from our Lansing, MI offices.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Evaluate and process all d documentation related to Lead Safe Home P Program Detroit applications. • Assign cases to applicable field s staff in a timely manner. • Collect, evaluate and process LSHP applications, including program eligibility assessment, income qualification, verification of property taxes and collection of building, site and property owner information. Applications should be assessed and approved or assessed and follow-up lette letters sent within two (2) weeks of receipt or soone sooner for high blood lead level cases.
up letters sent within two (2) weeks of r receipt or sooner for high blood lead level c cases. • Entry of application data to M Microsoft Access database and the Healthy H Homes Grants Management System, or other d databases or spreadsheets as necessary. • Generate follow-up letters and/or p place calls to families regarding LSHP a application, following LSHP procedures. • Work with LSHP Lead Departmental A Analysts to assign cases to Regional Field C Consultants based on geographic boundaries a and current caseloads. • Communicate daily with Lead D Departmental Analysts on case status and c case assignment to Regional Field C Consultants. • Schedule Regional Field Consultants f for Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment or E Elevated Blood Lead Investigations or other a appointments, as needed. • Work with Regional Field Consultants to schedule contractor pre-bid walkthrough w with property owners and contractors. Send w walkthrough notices via email and facsimile t to eligible contractors. • Serve as initial point of contact f for clients wishing to apply to LSHP, or for t those who have already applied and have q questions on their application. • Assemble and process Lead Safe Home P Program Tier II Environmental Review package. • Work with Regional Field Consultants t to assemble State Historic Preservation O Office review package. • Search and assemble additional d documentation related to Toxic Release data, u underground storage tanks, coastal zones, f flood plan management and other e environmental factors on a per project basis. • Provide Environmental Review package t to LSHP Lead Analysts and LSHP Unit Manager f for review and approval. • Provide outreach as required to Lead S Safe Home Program clients or potential c clients. • Weekly, place calls to parent/guardian of children with lead levels of 10ug/dL (or current value) or higher to e ensure receipt of LSHP application mailing a and encourage completion of application. A Assist client as needed in filling out a application. • Work with potential clients via telephone or in-person to fill out a applications for the LSHP. • Assist LSHP Lead Departmental A Analysts and LSHP Unit Manager with special p projects, as requested. • Assist HHS staff in collection of d data related to federal grant applications, a as well as other duties related to p preparation of grant proposals. • Assist with special projects or assignment assignments, as needed.
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Office requ required, specifically Word, Access, Excel and and PowerPoint. Data entry experience requ required. Experience answering and placing tele telephone calls and responding to public requ requests required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Physical requirements consistent with a standard office environment. Transport supplies to sites around the state on an occasional basis. Items and supplies can be bulky and weigh up to 40lbs. May occasionally go door-to-door to educate r residents and may be exposed to cold or wet w weather conditions. Requires valid vehicle operator’s license and o and occasional travel within the State, inclu including occasional overnights or weekends. Less Less occasionally, travel may be required outsi outside the State.
