Position Description: The Senior Research Associate (SRA) is a member of multiple research, technical assistance, policy development, and programmatic teams depending on scope of work. The center’s current scope of work includes health care access, health insurance, health policy, child health and child policy, school health, behavioral health, long-term care, cancer, community health system development, public health systems, social determinants of health equity and Medicaid. The SRA manages the daily operations of grants and contracts and is also is responsible for developing new work. This position will mainly lead new work that focuses on alignment among health care, public health, and social services. The SRA will work across multiple projects.

The scope responsibility will include these specific duties but is not limited to the following,

Management of New and Existing Grants and Contracts

Serves as project manager by providing administrative and management support to existing contracts and grants

Serves as a member of the team that designs and conducts quantitative and qualitative research to address health related problems and publish results in professional and peer-reviewed journals

Writes reports, abstracts, briefing papers, presentations, and other research- related communications

Facilitates group meetings through the use of meeting design strategies to ensure that meeting goals and objectives are met. Manages meeting goals and objectives, meeting announcements and materials, and reports meeting results

Leads the development of creative solutions to complex health policy issues

Manages research teams by coordinating administrative support, budget management, IRB approval, staffing and client support

Supervising the work of and mentoring staff

Serves as a member of the grant writing team responsible for literature reviews, background information, conceptualization of ideas or other aspects of the grant application process as assigned

Maintains existing relationships with external clients, stakeholders and university-wide partners

Communicates learnings from GHPC projects, programs and research to various audiences though policy briefs, academic publications, project reports, presentations and facilitated meetings, etc.

Leads meetings and represents the GHPC at national conferences and meetings

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Project management, including budget management, relationship building and cultivation, and ability to meet strategic goals and objectives

Research design, including identification, development and execution of appropriate research design strategies

Evaluation, including identification, development and execution of appropriate evaluation strategies

Qualitative and quantitative analytic skills

Writing/ reporting skills

Qualifications: Ph.D. with one year of experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
