Position Description: This position works to provide direct clinical services in the public health offices for the Northwest Region, with emphasis on areas or populations of highest need. This includes addressing sexually transmitted diseases and Family Planning services as well as incarcerated populations, and working with people affected by substance abuse. The position also supports Public Health Nurses and other public health team members to promote community health education and to work with community partners. Services are provided in communities, clinics, outreaches, and auxiliary site settings to a diverse racial and ethnic population.

Qualifications: Master's Degree in a defined certified nursing specialty such as pharmacology, physical assessment, diagnosis, nurse practitioner skills, and advanced nursing physiology and pathophysiology. Must have or be able to obtain licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in accordance with section 63-3-23.2 of the New Mexico Nursing Practice Act, 61-3-1 NMSA 1978.

Nurse Practitioners who were initially li licensed by the Board prior to January 1, 20 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing fr from a Nurse Practitioner Program and are cu currently licensed are encouraged to apply.

The ability to perform appropriate histories and physical exams, and to develop an appropriate plan of care including lab tests, immunizations, treatments, health education, referrals and counseling, are required. Skill with working with community partners to promote public health education and services is highly desirable.

This position is located in the Northwest Region, which supports the seven counties in the state's Northwest quadrant, including the Albuquerque Metro area.
