Purpose: This position will help support the work on tobacco disparities amongst the LGBTQ community. This position will be involved in collaborating with community LGBTQ members and organizations. This position will work with tobacco staff and LGBTQ communities and organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities: · Assist in planning and presentation of tobacco free living messages. · Assist with updating MDHHS Tobacco Section website content. · Participate in developing and updating tobacco materials and messaging to be inclusive and affirming of the LGBTQ community. · Participate in focus groups and town halls in the LGBTQ community around tobacco. · Review and assist with updating program training materials to include data of tobacco use, data on community preferences and identified needs around tobacco, and strategies to partner with LGBTQ communities and organizations. · Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Enrolled in college or university.

Experience: Applicants with LGBTQ lived experience are preferred. Individuals with community engagement and advocacy experience highly preferred.

Important Skills and Characteristics: · Excellent oral and written communication and ability to work as a member of a team. · Knowledge of systems and computer software, use of a computer, general understanding of data processing is highly recommended. · Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse groups, cultures, and communities. · Ability to organizes time, schedule and complete tasks with limited oversight.
