Position Description: |
Postdoctoral Researcher: Community Doula and Midwifery Care for Black Maternal Health The Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, at Florida International University (FIU) seeks applications for a full-time, twelve-month, postdoctoral researcher with the Black Mothers Care Plan. The postdoctoral researcher will assist with a major research project, “Community Doula and Midwifery Care as Models to Advance Equitable Healthcare Among Black Birthing Persons” funded by HRSA’s Maternal Health Research Collaborative for Minority- Serving Institutions. The project will conduct applied community-engaged research in partnership with community-based organizations to assess the impact mobile and household- centered care models for improving Black maternal health outcomes and experiences in Miami, FL. “Community Doula and Midwifery Care as Models to Advance Equitable Healthcare Among Black Birthing Persons” is led by Dr. Okezi T. Otovo, Principal Investigator, and Co-Principal Investigators Dr. Alexandra Cornelius, Dr. Rokeshia Renné Ashley, and Dr. Frank Anderson. The postdoctoral researcher will assist in research design, data collection, focus groups and surveys, quantitative data, reporting, and supplementary research. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with cross- disciplinary faculty, community partners, and other stakeholders. The candidate will also co- author publications and assist in the dissemination of research. This position is for two years with the possibility to continue for the full five-year term of the project.

Qualifications: |
Candidates must hold a PhD in social science, public health, or a medical field with expertise and experience in maternal health disparities and working with Black communities. Preferred candidates also will have experience in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
