Position Description: The VBD Fellowship Program is designed to provide training in three foundational areas of Vector-Borne Disease research and practice: Public Health Entomology, Laboratory Science, and Epidemiology. Activities will include applied research and surveillance projectsrelevant to the Southeastern U.S. Topics will include tick and mosquito surveillance and pathogen testing, tick control studies in the field, surveillance, and response to VBD clusters and identification of imported cases of significance. These projects will contribute to understanding, monitoring, and preventing Lyme disease, spotted fever rickettsioses, ehrlichiosis, West Nile, La Crosse encephalitis, and many other vector-borne diseases.

Qualifications: US citizen or permanent resident. Experience and/or strong interest in infectious disease, especially vector-borne diseases Graduated from a Masters degree program in entomology, biology, public health, or related field Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail

Organization Description: The Tennessee Department of Health Vector-Borne Diseases (VBD) Program in collaboration with the Southeastern Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases at the University of Florida, is seeking degreed applicants interested in furthering their training in Vector-Borne Diseases while working collaboratively with CDC, state health departments and universities in the southeastern region of the U.S.
