Position Description: This Biostatistician position with the Durham VA Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation at the Durham VA Health Care System, is in support of research projects conducted by the Center.

The selected individual will serve as co- investigator/lead statistician for a variety of health services studies, such as randomized behavioral intervention studies, pragmatic trials, and observational studies involving VA data in electronic health records.

Major responsibilities will include:

Work closely with health services investigators on the initiation of new research projects and on the development of study design and analytic plans for grant proposals. Mentor junior investigators in designing studies and refining research questions. Interact with an experienced team of multi- level statisticians. Prepare scientific manuscripts jointly with a team of health services investigators.

Qualifications: Position requires Ph.D., DrPH, or equivalent degree in statistics/biostatistics or related field with required statistical coursework- OR- a combination of education and experience as a statistical investigator responsible for independently designing and leading implementation of analysis plans for research protocols. Substantial experience with SAS and/or R. Excellent communication and writing skills. Strong organizational abilities. Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Must be a US citizen to apply. The following skills are considered a bonus:

Ability/willingness to serve in a coordinating or team lead capacity. Collaborative research or consulting experience. Experience with innovative trial design and/or causal inference methodology. Experience with grant proposal preparation. Basic knowledge of epidemiology/public health.
