Position Description: The Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation (ADAPT) in Durham, NC is seeking one staff biostatistician (GS-11/12) to join our biostatistics core. We are looking for a self-starter with a strong motivation to learn new methods for data analysis and data management, and a desire to be part of a health services research team.

The selected individual will:

Interact with statisticians, health economists, clinicians, and health services investigators at every level of the scientific process, from initiation of new research projects to publication Serve as a co-author on scientific papers written for scholarly journals Assist in the design of data collection protocols Extract and clean data from large administrative databases Perform statistical analyses for a variety of health services research studies Collaborate with an experienced and well- funded team of staff and faculty biostatisticians Candidate must be a U.S. citizen

Qualifications: M.S., M.A., or MPH (GS-11/12) in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, quantitative psychology, quantitative sociology, or related field with required statistical coursework Experience with SAS and/or R Experience with SQL programming Excellent communication skills Strong organizational abilities Ability to work effectively in a team setting The following skills are considered strongly desirable:

Experience with large healthcare datasets Experience with REDCap

Organization Description: ADAPT’s core faculty and staff conduct creative, high-quality health services research in close partnership with VA leadership for the benefit of our nation's Veterans. The Center offers organized research programs that involve cross- functional research teams and community and organizational partners to ensure that research studies are designed to address VA’s highest priorities and that research findings are relevant and actionable.
