Position Description: The researcher works with PHAR’s team focused on real world evidence to conduct a wide range of studies using claims or registry data to examine epidemiology, burden of illness, cost, and comparative effectiveness. Collaborating with researchers, statisticians, project managers and others with relevant training, the researcher contributes to the design, management, and execution of health economics research projects. The position leads to more senior roles within the company with increased independence and responsibility as methodological expertise and experience grow.

Although tasks may be requested that are outside of this list, we expect the researcher to: -format and draft study documents including proposals, analysis plans, technical reports, and publications from templates -create and monitor study timelines -attend internal and client-facing calls, leading short sections of calls -conduct literature searches in PubMed/MEDLINE independently -screen abstracts and full-text publications for literature reviews -assist with designing and creating electronic surveys and questionnaires -search for ICD-9, ICD-10, and other codes using a variety of sources -quality check documents for own team, and other teams as requested -perform administrative tasks (schedule calls, upload/manage internal files, find/order articles, take notes in meetings or on client calls, format deliverables, manage simple data requests) -use internal budget calculator to draft project budgets, based on methodology information from manager ? understand study content and methodology -manage 1-2 studies independently

Qualifications: We seek persons with strong interests in health economic research and analysis, and in working in an environment where teamwork, integrity, and high standards are valued.

We also seek those with:

-Bachelors in public health, health services research or related field; Masters a plus -2-3 years’ work experience -Experience conducting and documenting searches with PubMed/MEDLINE -Excellent analytic skills -Excellent computer skills, including Office Suite, Gmail, and Zotero; and comfort in either Mac or PC environments. Ability to learn industry-specific software. -Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (both oral and written) -Ability to work effectively within a remote and multidisciplinary team -Strong project management and organizational skills -Familiarity with the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical devices industries a plus

This position is remote, though most of the staff are based in Southern California. The salary is $60,000- 100,000, depending on experience. We provide medical, dental, vision and disability insurance; and offer participation in a 401k after 1 year.
