Position Description: The Tennessee Department of Health, Population Health Assessment Division seeks a highly motivated, qualified Epidemiologist 2 to act as Program Coordinator and Epidemiologist for the Tennessee Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). Under general supervision, the Epidemiologist 2 will be responsible for daily program management activities to include communication with the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other agency partners. Other critical duties include statistical analysis, data management, quality assurance and reporting using fact sheets, data reports, secondary SAS data analysis for colleagues’ output, timely response to internal and external requests, and providing programmatic support to Division projects as assigned. The Epidemiologist 2 will report directly to the Director of the Office of Population Health Surveillance.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should have a strong understanding of statistical concepts and moderate experience writing statistical programs using SAS software to generate analytics such as descriptive & regression analytics, prevalence rations and trend reports. Candidates should have excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and be adept at multitasking. Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of the general principles of population health surveillance and will be expected to independently set and meet milestones as well as coordinate with other members of a multi- disciplinary project team to complete deliverables.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Health Informatics with experience equivalent to four year’s work in Epidemiology.
