Position Description: |
Creates and distributes data reports and other correspondence. Provides evaluation and research support. Identifies and downloads data from external data sources. Performs data clean-up. Maintains databases. Conducts data analysis and queries. Creates tables and formulas in excel and other statistical programs (R, SAS, Python, and Tableau). Conducts internet searches. Aids senior staff in survey programs operations, and preparation of analytical reports. Updates standard operating procedures and frequently asked questions. Reviews and provides comments to supervisor on data strategic planning, governance, and performance measurement process. Helps other team members to support internal evaluations and develop and recommend an improved procedure for gathering, processing, and analyzing data. Assists senior staff in performing needs assessments and developing training materials and providing training and orientation seminars for MSHA personnel and selected regional and district staff.

Qualifications: |
To be eligible for appointment under the College Graduate authority, applicants must meet requirement A or B.
A. Applicants who have completed a bachelor's or graduate degree from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years or within 30 days of the vacancy closing date (06/25/2024).
OR
B. Veterans who have completed a bachelor's or graduate degree from a qualifying educational institution and have an intervening period of obligated service of at least four years in the uniformed services. The two-year eligibility period begins on the date of discharge or release from the uniformed service.

The Office of Program Policy & Evaluation is responsible for producing and screening official data and conducting internal program evaluations & audits regarding the effectiveness of MSHA programs in protecting the health & safety of miners in accordance with the legislative and regulatory requirements of the Federal mine safety & health laws, standards, and regulations.
