Position Description: The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health invites applicants for a tenure track, open-rank faculty position in Biostatistics. Researchers with a focus on clinical trials, computational statistics, spatial or environmental statistics, causal inference, or leadership in other applied interdisciplinary research are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants are encouraged to articulate in their cover letters how their research would align with, extend, or enrich the research environment at Drexel's Dornsife School of Public Health and the school’s mission. We seek a researcher with a strong record of innovative and impactful scholarship, demonstrated success securing external funding, an ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and preferably, experience advising Biostatistics doctoral students. Responsibilities include maintaining an active independent research program, contributing to the department's mission of advancing knowledge in epidemiology and biostatistics, and engaging in service to the department, institution, and the broader community.

Organization Description: The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health develops, applies, and teaches the methods needed to understand the determinants of disease and improve health. We are leaders in the reimagination of our fields through sustained commitment to anti-racism evidence and addressing structural racism. Our research and teaching focuses on analytic approaches needed to investigate the complex causes of major public health problems and to develop effective strategies to prevent them. Our academic programs include BS degree in Health Data Analytics, MS in Biostatistics, MS in Epidemiology, MPH in Epidemiology, PhD in Biostatistics, and PhD in Epidemiology. Biostatistics faculty are leaders in Bayesian modeling; spatial and spatiotemporal analysis; latent variable models; and the conduct and analysis of clinical trials. Epidemiology faculty conduct multi-level and interdisciplinary research focused on chronic conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular health; infectious diseases, such as Covid-19 and HIV/AIDS; health behaviors, including diet and physical activity; maternal and child health; and health of gender and sexual minorities. As a joint department, our faculty have a unique opportunity to work collaboratively within the department. Additionally, we collaborate with colleagues across the Dornsife School of Public Health and Drexel University, as well as with partners in Philadelphia, regionally, nationally, and globally. Dornsife School of Public Health is ranked as the #1 school of public health in the Greater Philadelphia region by US News and World Report and #18 (tied) out of 213 schools and programs accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Our Biostatistics program was ranked #26. The School’s research trajectory has led to outstanding growth in the past several years. In 2021, Dornsife’s $14.4 million Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) initiative led to the hire of 12 diverse NIH-supported faculty to work on health disparities and promote sustainable institutional changes necessary to create a culture of inclusive excellence at the School and at the University more broadly. Dornsife’s research centers include the Urban Health Collaborative, the Ubuntu Center on Racism, Global Movements & Population Health Equity, and the Biostatistics Scientific Collaboration Center (BSC).
