Position Description: This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing primary epidemiologic support for Candida auris (C. auris) and carbapenemase-producing organism (CPO) statewide and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reporting requirements and surveillance of other reported healthcare-associated antimicrobial resistance (AR). The RS II oversees data extraction, analyzes C. auris, CPO, and other AR data reported by California laboratories and healthcare facilities via the California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE), CDC Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory Network (AR Lab Network) and National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), and provides data to the HAI Program. AR team to coordinate prevention and containment responses with local public health agencies and public health and clinical laboratories. The RS II performs epidemiologic analyses and visualization of reported data, and develops annual public reports and scientific presentations and publications.

Qualifications: Masters in Public Health and three years of research experience in the stated specialty or a closely related field. The research experience must have included responsibility for determining research design, choice of methods, and analysis of findings. The research involved in completion of the dissertation required for the doctoral degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Please see www.calhr.ca.gov for more information
