Position Description: Reporting to the Sr. Director, Quality Initiatives and leading a team of ten this position will provide strategic direction and management for American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) quality initiatives, including the Pediatric Quality Networks, Project ECHO and quality focused groups that provide opportunities for members in implementing evidence-based processes that improve care for children using quality improvement methodologies.

Qualifications Include:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field required, with a focus on health education, program evaluation or measurement. Master’s degree preferred.

• At least six years of related experience in QI program development, implementation, and evaluation related to medical education and/or health systems required, including budget management and supervising staff. Experience with child health/ clinical QI initiatives, grant management, and medical association a plus.

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, fiscal management, negotiation, diplomacy, critical thinking, and verbal/written communication required, as well as a solid understanding of quality improvement principles such as Model for Improvement, Six Sigma, and/or LEAN.

• Must be a strategic thinker and skilled in leading and developing staff, as well as promoting and maintaining a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

• Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, take initiative, lead teams of multiple partners, and collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents.

• Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS), and the ability to learn and apply new technologies to advance work initiatives; experience with data mining techniques and related software, virtual meeting platforms (e.g., WebEx, Teams), and budgeting software (e.g., Acumatica) preferred.

• Some travel and evening/weekend work required, as well as the ability to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate physicians’ availability.

Hybrid work environment of 40% of work time in the Itasca, IL office per month.
