Position Description: The injury Prevention Epidemiologist III performs highly advanced research and epidemiological work in injury and prevention. Responsibilities: serve as the primary liaison on data and program data quality and provide consultation, presentations, and troubleshooting on data; develop and implement advanced epidemiologic investigations following new or standardized scientific policies and protocols; and oversee data abstraction, prepare data quality reports, and check data quality meets or exceeds defined criteria.

Qualifications: Position requires strong project management skills to organize major projects and meet deadlines, and strong technical writing skills to communicate project and research information clearly and succinctly to state and federal agencies. Candidates must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, work in a team environment, and feel comfortable making recommendations for program improvement to various audiences.

Organization Description: The Injury Prevention Unit manages the Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Registries (EMSTR), the Child Fatality Review Team (CFRT) program, the Safe Riders Passenger Safety Program, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Texas Violent Death Reporting System (TVDRS), and the CDC Texas Overdose Data to Action.

Our vision is to use data and public health best practices to inform injury prevention activities and programs.
