Position Description: The newly established Department of Global, Environmental, and Occupational Health (GEOH) (formerly the Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health) within the University of Maryland School of Public Health (SPH) seeks an outstanding senior researcher and leader for the position of Professor & Clark Leadership Chair in Global Health. The Clark Leadership Chair in Global Health is supported by a generous gift from the A. James and Alice B. Clark Foundation to promote interdisciplinary learning and research in fields of critical importance to the global community. Endowed funds are made available annually to support the salary and research initiatives of the Clark Leadership Chair. In this position, the successful candidate will take a leading role in advancing global health research and scholarship in the Department; lead a collaborative, externally-funded, interdisciplinary research program; teach and mentor students; and provide service to the university and profession.

Currently, GEOH includes a diverse group of 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 40 professional- track faculty focused on impactful research, scholarship, training, practice and community engagement across a number of domains including: airborne infectious disease transmission; climate change and health; water quality, water reuse and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); environmental justice; cumulative environmental health risks; occupational health; air and dietary contaminants; and One Health.

GEOH currently offers six academic degree programs: a new BS in Global Health (launched in Fall 2024); a new Environmental Justice Specialization (launched in Fall 2024) within a BS in Environmental Science & Policy (in collaboration with our College of Agriculture & Natural Resources); an MPH with a concentration in Environmental Health Sciences; an MS and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences; and a post baccalaureate certificate in Global Health. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to and help grow our new BS in Global Health and help envision future graduate programs in Global Health.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

- Applicants must possess qualifications and experience meriting appointment as a full professor with tenure in the School of Public Health including a terminal degree in a relevant discipline. - Applicants should demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership and significant extramural funding in a focused area of Global Health. Preferences:

Individuals working in all Global Health focus areas are welcome to apply; however, the following areas that complement existing research and scholarship in the department are preferred:

- Airborne infectious disease transmission; pandemic preparedness; emerging pathogens and infectious disease modeling; climate and health; occupational health as it relates to climate change; One Health; and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). - Research and scholarship that is conducted in under-resourced settings and/or in partnership with marginalized or vulnerable populations is also desirable. - It is also preferred that the successful candidate will demonstrate experience and/or commitment to the use of inclusive pedagogies (student- centered approaches that engage a diverse array of student identities) in teaching, as well as experience or commitment working with a diverse body of students in a mentoring role.
