The nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), seeks a self- starter who can managed their time wisely to manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects for the assigned hospital and surgical subspecialty committees, councils, and sections of Nephrology, Home Care, & Hematology/Oncology, including growing and maintain key working relationships with physician leaders; overseeing policy development and administration; development of professional resources, education, and member affinity programs, liaison appointments/relationships with partner organizations; and implementation of grants and subcontract agreements; support other AAP initiatives and child health priorities that align with or draw from assigned constituent disciplines; and pursue opportunities to support initiatives to advance/augment subspecialty care and optimal delivery of child health services.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, health care administration, allied health sciences, or related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Master’s degree in related discipline preferred.

• At least three years’ related experience in public health program planning and administration required, including some experience with child health.

• Experience with technical writing/editing, needs assessment, budgeting, grants management/writing, and working in a medical association preferred.

• Excellent written/verbal communication, organizational, critical thinking, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills required.

• Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx) and document collaboration platforms (eg SharePoint) preferred. • Must be able to review and synthesize published articles, data, and other materials to inform policy and project management; manage multiple priorities simultaneously; take initiative; work both independently and as part of a team; collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents; and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

• Knowledge of health care industry and medical education issues highly desirable. • Some travel and evening/weekend work required, along with the need for flexibility in arranging work schedules to accommodate physicians’ availability.
