Purpose of Job
The purpose of this classification is to provide clerical and administrative support to an assigned health services clinic within the Knox County Health Department.
Essential Functions
The Health Services Clerk, Front Office Support is responsible for the following essential functions:
Greet clients and ascertains their needs in relation to services provided by KCHD
Answer telephone and provides accurate, up-to-date information to callers and refers callers to other agencies or departments when necessary
Obtain specified client information from patients, such as age, insurance coverage, and symptoms, and enters information onto prescribed forms or computer database for the purpose of the patient accessing services provided by KCHD
Enter client information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
‘Check-in’ ‘Check-out’ and ‘post charges’ as necessary for complete client care
Schedule, re-schedule, and cancel client appointments
Provide reminder calls for scheduled appointments
Assist in the client referral process to internal/external partners and providers
Prints receipts from computer for cash received and patient services ledger for patient use
Prints daily cash drawer report for clinic, showing monies receipted
Counts checks and cash; submits encounter audit, receipt copies, cash drawer printout, encounter forms, and cash to Accounting Department at end of each day
Monthly inventory and ordering of all office supplies
