Position Description: Minimum level of education is a doctorate of veterinary medicine (not a PhD).

Primary duties: Work closely with the Zoonotic and Vectorborne Disease Program Manager to: • Act as back-up liaison with interagency partners and programs for the state public health veterinarian. • Provide consultation aligning with current state and national guidelines for rabies prevention and control in people and animals. • Conduct case review, syndromic and other types of surveillance; create and update relevant maps related to rabies and other zoonotic diseases. • Conduct data analysis and disease risk analysis, update guidance documents, and provide written and verbal reports related to rabies and other zoonotic diseases and support county health department investigations of suspect rabies and other zoonotic diseases. • Develop and provide relevant trainings for county health departments and other stakeholders related to rabies and other zoonotic diseases. • Support emergency response for zoonotic and vectorborne diseases. • Crosstrain to provide support with vectorborne disease investigations and response. • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine recognized in the United States and Master of Public Health and/or are a member of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine strongly preferred. • At least 1-2 years of experience preferred but new graduates with appropriate educational credentials will be considered. Salary varies with level of experience.

Organization Description: This position is based within the Florida Department of Health's Bureau of Epidemiology in the state office.
