The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as an Environmental Engineer 2. This position will help to support the Environmental Health and Drinking Water Branch's Environmental Health Section and will work to develop an Alternative Treatment System (ATS) program. Alternative treatment systems utilize advanced mechanical technologies that surpass conventional septic systems in treating wastewater and removing pollutants, and will work closely with the Environmental Engineering Program. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Work Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday Work Hours: Full-time, First Shift, 35 hours per week Location: 410 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT There may be opportunities for an alternate work schedule and teleworking in accordance with State policies, following the successful completion of a working test period.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Under the direct supervision of the Durational Environmental Health and Drinking Water Chief, this position will be responsible for duties that will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reviewing and permitting the Alternative Treatment System designs over 2,000 gpd, but under 10,000 gpd. Providing technical assistance and enforcement support. Conducting site assessments, system inspections, and evaluations. Reviewing municipal engineering reports and annual product performance assessments.
