The Stanford Urologic Cancer Epidemiology Lab, led by Associate Professor of Urology Dr. Benjamin I. Chung at Stanford University with Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health Dr. Marvin Langston serving as Postdoctoral Training Director, is seeking multiple talented scientists to join the research team. We conduct research projects on the epidemiology of all urologic cancers with a particular focus on Kidney cancer. Kidney cancer incidence rates have steadily grown since the 1990s, with kidney cancer becoming the sixth and ninth most diagnosed cancer for men and women respectively in the US. Kidney cancer, often detected incidentally by imaging, is an often-understudied neoplasm in cancer epidemiology research. Kidney cancer represents the deadliest urological neoplasm and has a dismal late-stage 5-year survival rate. The goal of this postdoctoral program is to conduct high-quality epidemiological research in the field of urological cancers with a special emphasis on kidney cancer epidemiology (including prevention and screening, control, etiology, health disparities, treatment, and survivorship). Research will be accomplished through an immersive program designed to provide fellows with the methodology, clinical exposure, and track record of productivity to succeed.

Training Overview

Individualized mentorship from a vibrant group of successful faculty from both urology and epidemiology at Stanford. Each fellow will be assigned a clinical and epidemiology primary mentor.
