Position Description: This position provides clinical leadership to the Family Planning Program (FPP) by providing education/training regarding clinical best practices, clinical direction to staff, and clinical supervision/oversight/consultation to FPP medical/clinical team; participating in clinical/medical teams to provide consultation, education, and training; ensuring that policies & protocols & procedures for medical care are compliant with accreditation and rules/regulations and medical standards.

Key responsibilities include overseeing all clinical and medical issues pertaining to Title X and the Family Planning Program; providing direct supervision, leadership, and support for program clinical staff; and work in collaboration with program clinical staff to assure quality of and access to sexual/reproductive and family planning clinical services to meet goals and objectives in accordance with grant requirements.

Qualifications: Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

The NM DOH Family Planning Program (FPP) State Office staff work on fulfilling federal Title X grant requirements, including overseeing the quality of Title X services provided in Title X clinics statewide. We are responsible for a wide variety of essential public health services, some of which are sensitive or may be controversial.
