Position Description: |
The position of the Surveillance Coordinator is a full-time position within the Maternal, Child, and Family Health (MCFH) Division of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH). The Surveillance Coordinator’s primary responsibility will be to support MCFH’s citywide perinatal surveillance efforts, specifically in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Surveillance for Emerging Threats to Pregnant People and their Infants Network (SET-NET). The position requires working closely in a multidisciplinary team with other professional staff in MCFH and the Division of Disease Control (DDC). This position will focus primarily on perinatal hepatitis C virus (HCV) exposures and may expand to include other pathogens in the future.

Qualifications: |
•Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or equivalent from an accredited institution is required. Master’s degree preferred. High School Diploma/GED with 5-7 years of related public health experience will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree. •Strong oral and written communication skills, both oral and written. •Experience and aptitude interacting with healthcare professionals and working in healthcare settings. • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to organize and present information effectively. •Ability to work independently to comprehensively complete tasks. •REDCap, or other data management experience is strongly preferred. • Experience with cleaning and analyzing data, using analytic software such as SAS, preferred. •Experience requesting and abstracting data from medical records preferred. •Knowledge and experience with medical terminology strongly preferred. • Flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are highly valued attributes. •Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
