Position Description: The main purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and implement Bureau-wide activities, coordinate and monitor grants and contract activities that help promote the health of Maryland families. This position will help ensure the effective and efficient administration of federal grants with varying funding periods and reporting requirements. This position will also ensure fund distributions and monitor expenditures that support approximately 300 grants and contracts to academic institutions, professional groups, other state agencies and private non-profit organizations in any given year.

Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling, or a related field.

Experience: Six years professional experience in health services, three years must have been in Health Services professional clinical or administrative services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions and two years must have been at the managerial or supervisory level.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree or a Doctorate degree in a health or human services field from an accredited college or university for up to two years of the required general experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus an additional year of professional experience in health services for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year- for-year basis for the required experience and education.
