Position Description: Under the supervision of the Nutrition Education Manager, Nutrition Educators will provide localized nutrition and health education in a variety of community settings and environments. Following company and State-instituted policies and curriculum, Nutrition Educators will work to identify partners and opportunities to connect with neighbors in need and provide nutrition and health education relevant to the needs and strategies identified for their assigned Counties. Nutrition Educators will assist in the development of nutrition materials, recipes, cooking demonstrations and videos, and other materials needed to reach targeted audiences. Nutrition Educators will be responsible for tracking and reporting required data and feedback from classes and other community interactions and will continuously participate in program improvement and strategic planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the design and implementation of Nutrition Education Programs into appropriate Programs sites and other Agency Partners including but not limited to: Child Hunger Programs, Trinity Cafe, Community Empowerment Centers, Agency Partners, MEGA and Mobile Pantry distribution sites, Groceries on the Go, FoodRx and other health care partner programs.

Collaborate with the Nutrition Education and Programs team to provide localized nutrition education and healthy nudges programming across the food bank network and in conjunction with community partners. Assist in the identification and training of possible Nutrition Education partners Communicate with the Nutrition Education Manager and team to procure and distribute relevant nutrition nudges, recipes, and other program materials and to implement sustainable Foods to Encourage policies and protocols.

Effectively utilize internal comprehensive database tracking statistical information on nutrition programs.

Assist in the development of tasty, healthful and cost-effective recipes suitable for use in nutrition programs and distribution to food pantries and kitchens.

Facilitate cooking demonstrations using Feeding Tampa Bay’s (Charlie Cart) Nutrition Kitchen at community events and partner sites. Build and enhance relationships with FTB partner Agencies. Engage community partners and the general public of Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission and strategy through presentations. Serve as liaison to community resources for the agency.

Assist other Feeding Tampa Bay staff on special projects Cross train in other areas of the Programs Department Demonstrate a pleasant, professional and helpful attitude at all times Commit to upholding policies, principles and best practices for food safety.

Work location will primarily be remote, with regular travel within the Educator’s assigned coverage areas. Meeting attendance at the FTB main warehouse will be required periodically.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, nutrition science, dietetics, or a related field, and/or 2 years + relevant experience Exhibit expertise and experience in public speaking, including the ability to conduct training sessions and group presentations for a variety of audiences.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Proven experience working in low-income, culturally diverse communities, as well as a fundamental awareness of the difficulties and obstacles encountered by people and families that need support.

Knowledge of or expertise with groups who lack adequate housing is a plus.

Ability to work well with non-English speaking populations, in low-income areas, and with children and families, or seniors, etc. Bilingual Spanish is a plus. Ability to independently manage multiple projects, taking the initiative to improve the program and smoothly coordinate it while maintaining a very collaborative work style with the Programs Team.

Proven ability to manage and document deliverables and data from a number of sources. Spreadsheet skills a must. Ability to work constructively with individuals (agency staff, the public, and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in culturally diverse work environments.

Proficient with Microsoft Word Office and Google Suite.

A demonstrated capacity for punctuality in regards to the submission of deliverables and upholding set working hours.

Clean driving record Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license
