The Pima County Health Department is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Cavity Free AZ Program, which serves children who lack access to regular dental care. The dental team delivers preventive services through a 36-foot recreational vehicle that has been converted into a mobile dental unit. This grant-funded Community Health Worker I (CHW) position involves a variety of responsibilities, including scheduling and preparing for mobile dental clinics. The CHW will assist with outreach efforts to schools, coordinate educational presentations, and schedule clinics with school districts. In this role, you will collaborate closely with schools and community partners, providing brief dental sealant education in classrooms. As part of the Oral Health team, the CHW will also support daily clinic operations, including chairside dental assisting. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to enhance your dental skills. This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse population of children and families, making a positive impact on their overall health and well-being.

This is a grant-funded position ending December 2029.

Essential Functions:

Completes required core competency training during business hours within one year of hire date;

Serves as a link between community members, services, and organizations, while maintaining privacy and confidentiality;

Responds to questions from the community regarding support and services;

Provides support to community members about how to use and connect with services and resources;

Develops and maintains effective working relationships with community organizations, participates in various community partner initiatives and activities;

Conducts outreach activities and engagement with partners;

Assists in the implementation of activities that meet program goals and objectives, which may include clinical activities such as taking blood pressures or testing;

Participates in the development and dissemination of culturally responsive materials and public information specific to assigned programs;

Assists in program evaluation activities such as conducting surveys and hosting community meetings;

Implements specialized programming throughout the community.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certification.

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Experience with dental/medical services.
