Position Description: The Director, Regional Communicable Disease Program will provide strategic support for public health research and evaluation activities from a regional perspective, ensuring program activities are meeting appropriate federal and State standards, requirements, laws, and regulations. Convene and direct committees, work groups, focus groups, regional meetings, and other forums involving the provider community, government representatives, and staff to obtain input on the design of Disease Control programs and services. Formulate optimal strategies for planning, prioritizing, developing, promoting, and implementing Disease Control programs, considering need, demand, resource availability, and barriers to implementation. Facilitate strategic partnerships between Central Office and Regional leadership, organizing high level meetings to provide expert guidance and support for program initiatives and fostering statewide and regional partnerships that advance Bureau priorities. Ensure central and regional leadership are informed of issues, and modify strategies and activities based on Bureau leadership direction. Work with community organizations, healthcare providers, and government agencies to promote disease control initiatives. Serve as key point of contact for public health communication during outbreaks and adjust program strategies based on evaluation results and emerging public health threats. Oversee the interpretation and application of emergency response policies in coordination with Local Health Departments (LHDs), ensuring clarity and consistency across regions. Partner with Regional Public Health Emergency Preparedness for regional support. Supervise and support a team of public health professionals, including epidemiologists, nurses, health educators, and program coordinators.

Qualifications: At least seven years of progressively responsible work experience related to the management of a multi-faceted program with a demonstrated, strong understanding of public health, local, and state government management processes. Strong organizational and management skills with demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills. Field experience in communicable disease programs. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and maintain relationships between various stakeholders including government agencies at the local and state level. Experience monitoring, supporting, and evaluating local health department performance. Master’s degree in public health, nursing, epidemiology, social work, or health sciences.
