Position Description: The Associate Research Scientist’s responsibilities will consist of working closely with members in the Pediatric Cardiology Heart Center Research Core, providing senior level biostatistical and analytic support for all projects. The candidate will collaborate with personnel with training and experience in biostatistical tasks and will take a mentorship and teaching role in guidance of junior statistician(s) and physicians in training who are interested in clinical research. Scientific tasks include but are not limited to study design, data collection and analysis, and results interpretation. This person may need to assist physician researchers to manage the research consulting service. Also, this person will closely work with heart center investigators in NIH-funded research projects such as data analysis and manuscript preparation. In addition, this person is expected to conduct applied research in an area of considerable scope of complexity, plan independent research, data analysis and interpretation, and publish the results. Moreover, this person is expected to design studies and develop grant proposals to seek extramural funds for independent studies. Furthermore, there will be opportunities to get involved in training clinicians/scholars/graduate students from CUIMC and other institutes.

Qualifications: PhD in Epidemiology or Biostatistics or relevant area 3+ years of postdoctoral training required Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines. The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other’s contributions. The ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues and staff.
